Conservatives don’t understand Colbert
by Adam on Apr.28, 2009, under Miscellaneous Wondering
Despite the fact that Colbert is on the Comedy Channel, conservative Colbert viewers don’t realize that the show is comedy. WIthout a doubt the show is satire, and is similar comedy to that of The Daily Show (which, isn’t a real news show). Oh The Irony Satire:
This study investigated biased message processing of political satire in The Colbert Report and the influence of political ideology on perceptions of Stephen Colbert. Results indicate that political ideology influences biased processing of ambiguous political messages and source in late-night comedy. Using data from an experiment (N = 332), we found that individual-level political ideology significantly predicted perceptions of Colbert’s political ideology. Additionally, there was no significant difference between the groups in thinking Colbert was funny, but conservatives were more likely to report that Colbert only pretends to be joking and genuinely meant what he said while liberals were more likely to report that Colbert used satire and was not serious when offering political statements. Conservatism also significantly predicted perceptions that Colbert disliked liberalism. Finally, a post hoc analysis revealed that perceptions of Colbert’s political opinions fully mediated the relationship between political ideology and individual-level opinion.
Thanks Huffy!
How to be insensitive if your an MP in two steps
by Adam on Mar.19, 2009, under Miscellaneous Wondering
Step 1
Become a Conservative Party MP (you can join any party, but the Conservatives will help you with their insensitivity training)
Step 2
Raffle off a handgun in an area that is plagued by easy to get handguns that gangs use to kill one another.
The Star has the scoop on this stupid conservative MP giving away guns:
A Saskatchewan Conservative MP is coming under fire for his starring role at a gun lobby dinner in the Greater Toronto area next month where the raffle prize is a Beretta semi-automatic handgun.
Garry Breitkreuz is the guest speaker at the Canadian Shooting Sports Association’s (CSSA) annual general meeting and dinner on April 18 in Mississauga, where he’s to be lauded for his private member’s bill to abolish Canada’s controversial long-gun registry and relax rules on prohibited and restricted weapons.
The “special dinner draw” of this “very rare and valuable collector’s item” is advertised on the association’s website. Raffle tickets will be sold at the dinner for $20 each or three for $50.
News of the gun prize drew immediate outrage.
“We have got to be finding ways to get (handguns) off the streets, not handing them out as prizes,” Liberal MP Mark Holland (Ajax-Pickering) said yesterday.
“It really is an insult to a community that has seen so much gun violence and where so many people have been killed … to give that away as a (raffle) prize.”
Harper’s Conservatives don’t understand reality
by Adam on Mar.18, 2009, under Miscellaneous Wondering
I know this is nothing new to anyone, but the current team of Conservatives MPs in Ottawa don’t believe in something called “science”.
I find this to be exceptional though:
So the science minister is basically hinting that he doesn’t believe in science. WTF?!
So the CTV megamediacorp asks for clarification. What does the minister say, well, he uses an argument that he thinks supports evolution that clearly makes no sense:
“We are evolving every year, every decade. That’s a fact, whether it is to the intensity of the sun, whether it is to, as a chiropractor, walking on cement versus anything else, whether it is running shoes or high heels, of course we are evolving to our environment. But that’s not relevant and that is why I refused to answer the question. The interview was about our science and tech strategy, which is strong.”
Just to be clear, I couldn’t care less if he believes that god created the universe (besides we all know that I created it), but not believing in scientific fact that animals and plants evolve in change over time – insane!
Another sign that the Conservatives under Harper are destroying Canada. Or are they achieving their goal of making us the USA?
How can people support Harper?
by Adam on Oct.12, 2008, under election 2008
I have no problem being insanely open with my distaste for the Conservative party. I find it shameful that Canadians elected Harper’s party into Ottawa. He and his fellow ministers have show an ongoing disrespect for the courts (which Dion will restore), the environment, and Canadian culture. Oh, and they made a lot of cuts that hurt women, heritage, research, youth programs, and so much more.
And now Harper’s cronies have decided that the only way that the Conservatives will get elected is if they don’t speak what they actually think (take notes Chris Reid and Lee Richardson).
What’s more is that the Conservatives promise to re-introduce the Canadian DMCA. Formerly known as Bill-C61. here’s a list of candidates opposed to ridiculous copyright controls.
So on Tuesday get out and vote that jerk Harper and the Conservatives out of office.

Conservatives don’t even help each other
by Adam on Sep.30, 2008, under election 2008
Fast forward to the two minute mark to see some dude faint then watch as nobody helps him for another twenty seconds. The conservatives literally never lend a helping hand to anyone. Well, that;s not true – they help those poor corporations.

I feel sorry for the kid, Harper is one boring person he makes me sleepy just looking at him.
Conservative candidate, says what he really thinks and quits
by Adam on Sep.22, 2008, under election 2008

The BigCityLib blog found out what former Conservative candidate Chris Reid really thinks about Canada. The CBC sums it all up with this:
In his blog, according to BigCityLib blog, Reid criticized passengers on the bus in Manitoba where Tim McLean, 22, was beheaded in a gruesome killing in July.
Passengers and the driver “stood by and watched another person being butchered, and couldn’t muster up any courage or self-sacrifice to intervene,” Reid wrote.
“This is where socialism [has] gotten us folks, a castrated effeminate population.”
Whoa. But it gets better – Chris Reid responded with the stereotypical craziness that someone new to the internet has. He also thought he could delete his blog. LOL, indeed.
Now the person running in Toronto Centre is David Gentili who is apparently one of Harper’s minions from Ottawa. This riding is probably going to Bob Rae anyway.
