I was at the NextMedia conference (all about monetizing digital media) held at Circa nightclub - yes a nightclub.
A note to Toronto conference and event planners: please do NOT have events at Circa.
The wi-fi is very weak if one can get it at all.
It’s an awkward layout for presentations, same with the lighting.
It’s way too dark in the club (at least I can’t see everyone’s imperfections).
Conferences with natural light and colours produce more creative thinking I find.
There are no outlets to plug in my laptop, which means I take fewer notes.
The lunch was kinda awkward because there was no clear place to eat it.
People only talk about how odd it is to have a conference in a club.
They seem to cool the air something as if the club is thumping and bodies are rubbing
Lastly the venue feels like a club and not a place to do anything but E and put date rape drugs in young girls’ drinks or whatever it is people who go to clubs do. Maybe stab and shoot each other? Quite frankly that isn’t my scene - sorry.

So Obama won, good.
What is he going to do now? He’s now faced with running an empire that can’t repair itself and all the nation’s people support the very system that has brought them such harm. What can Obama do?
For the record, this is just me tossing out some unfinished thoughts.
If Obama ever ran in Canada I would not vote for him. He is pro death penalty while admitting it is not a deterrent to crime. He is an isolationist. He is on top of that everything to everybody (except fascist McCain supporters) - and that’s another problem.
He won’t be able to please the people who voted for him because nobody knows what he truly stands for. At least I don’t as a Canadian.
He can’t (or won’t) change a system that he openly supports.
Obama oh noes…..

The Hotel Cafe has the only FAQ I’ve ever read in it’s entirety.
Q: I don’t have a demo, but I’m really good, can you book me?
A: No.
Q: I can play a little right now, sort of an audition…
A: No.
Q: Do you have an open mic night?
A: No.
Q: You should.
A: No.

Going somewhere, need a ride? Well if you ask for one (or offer a lift) you’re breaking the law.
Rideshare service PickupPal.com will begin warning its Ontario customers today that they’re likely breaking the law by co-ordinating car rides through the popular website.
The move comes after the Ontario Highway Transport Board ruled the website was operating illegally in the province by helping drivers offer rides to strangers for a fee. The board issued its decision even though legislation was proposed last month that would legalize ride sharing.
Why do you ask, well according to the Star it’s because a bus company thinks it’s losing business to the service. Oh noes teh market changez! No adapt!!!!
Chartered bus company Trentway-Wagar Inc. had asked the transport board to ban the site on the grounds that, under the existing Public Vehicles Act, users of the service were operating their cars as “public vehicles” without a proper licence, insurance or compliance with safety regulations.
Trentway was particularly concerned about people using PickupPal.com to organize regular van shuttles on high-traffic routes, such as between Toronto and Montreal, which would eat into the bus company’s revenues.
